The Chief Antenna Design Engineer serves as a technical subject matter expert within the Advanced Aperture Solutions group. This role involves designing ultrawideband antenna and electronically scanned array systems across various lifecycle phases to provide critical ISR capabilities in the SIGINT operating environment. The engineer will lead program execution, mentor junior peers, support business development efforts, and manage technical design reviews for airborne, maritime, and ground platforms. Key responsibilities include performing research, detailed analysis, and cost estimation while ensuring designs meet specific customer requirements. Required expertise includes RF/Microwave development, link budgets, and antenna performance metrics across multiple bands including L, S, C, X, Ku, Ka, and V. The role utilizes tools such as CST Design Studio, MATLAB, SolidWorks, HFSS, SystemVue, and ADS, while requiring proficiency in hardware components like matching networks and filtering.
Serve as a technical authority for complex antenna and RF/Microwave development programs across airborne, maritime, and ground systems.
Lead the design, analysis, and research of ultrawideband antenna and electronically scanned array (ESA) systems.
Guide the execution of technical design review briefings and report on project status, risks, and issues.
Mentor junior engineers to ensure antenna designs meet specific customer requirements.
Support business development by leading planning, customer visits, technical briefings, and demonstrations.
Generate accurate cost estimates for non-recurring engineering (NRE) and recurring production costs.
Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers regarding technical and contractual matters.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering with 12 years of experience, or a graduate degree with 10 years of experience.
Minimum of 16 years of related experience is required if no degree is held.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Experience in design and analysis of antenna performance, RF Link Budgets, S-parameters, matching networks, and filtering.
Experience with antenna design for electromagnetics in the VHF, UHF, and microwave applications across L, S, C, X, Ku, Ka, and V bands.
Experience with specific antenna elements such as horns, dipoles, patch, PIFAs, loop, slot, helical, fractal, Vivaldi, Biconical, Log-periodic, and Yagi.
Proficiency with simulation tools including CST, HFSS, SystemVue, ADS, MATLAB, and other ECAD design tools.
