TL;DR · Cellular Layer-1 Control Software Development Engineer, Wireless Technologies & Ecosystems

As a Cellular Layer-1 Control Software Development Engineer within the Wireless Technologies & Ecosystems team, you will design and implement PHY/Layer1 Control Software and firmware for state-of-the-art mobile wireless communications systems. You will be responsible for implementing key scheduling and control processing under strict timeline, latency, and energy constraints while developing pre-silicon emulation systems and virtual platforms for design verification. The role involves defining methodologies, standards, and utilizing tools for build, formal verification, and testing. To succeed, you must possess a strong understanding of software engineering principles using C or C++, Real Time Operating Systems, and concurrent programming. You will also leverage knowledge of cellular uplink procedures, computer architecture, and hardware/software interfaces while debugging embedded systems using system simulators, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and JTAG debuggers to solve complex wireless connectivity problems for mobile products.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement PHY/Layer1 Control Software and Firmware for mobile wireless communication systems.
  • Implement key scheduling and control processing under strict timeline, latency, and energy constraints.
  • Develop pre-silicon emulation systems and virtual platforms for Layer1 Control software design and verification.
  • Evaluate and implement advanced tools for build processes, formal verification, and testing.
  • Define technical methodologies and standards for cellular technologies.
  • Develop firmware that integrates seamlessly with cellular chipsets in mobile products.
  • Debug embedded software systems using system simulators, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and JTAG debuggers.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0 to 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles using C and/or C++, Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS), and concurrent programming.
  • Deep understanding of cellular uplink procedures including RACH, Scheduling Request, SRS, CSI, and antenna selection algorithms (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of computer architecture with an emphasis on HW/SW interfaces of high-speed communication subsystems (preferred).
  • Experience with silicon prototyping, emulation systems, and virtual platforms (preferred).
  • Experience in SW verification and HW validation using scripting, automation frameworks, and debugging tools like spectrum analyzers and JTAG debuggers (preferred).
