As an Individual Contributor in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s Catalyst Program – Velocity Track, you will join the Infrastructure Operations team as a Data Center Technician, responsible for supporting hardware installations, break/fix activities, cabling infrastructure, inventory operations, and technical troubleshooting. Day-to-day tasks include rack-and-stack activities, server and network equipment maintenance, and adherence to established procedures for operational excellence. You will use tools like ServiceNow and JIRA for ticket management, ensuring compliance with security and access control requirements while promoting safety awareness. The role requires strong technical skills in networking, Linux command-line usage, and familiarity with enterprise hardware, as well as the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team. This position is ideal for those with relevant military or data center operations experience aiming to advance their careers in cloud infrastructure support at one of the world’s largest cloud providers.
Perform rack-and-stack activities for servers and network equipment.
Troubleshoot hardware issues independently using established procedures.
Maintain accurate inventory records and manage asset tracking systems.
Install and validate copper and fiber cabling infrastructure in data centers.
Escalate complex technical problems with complete supporting documentation.
Support deployment, upgrade, and retirement of server hardware throughout lifecycle.
Assist with onboarding and training for less-experienced technicians.
What we're looking for
Associate Degree in IT, Computer Science, Electronics, Networking, Data Center Operations, or related field; or relevant military experience.
At least 2 years of experience in data center operations, technical support, IT infrastructure, networking, telecommunications, electronics, or related fields.
Strong technical aptitude and ability to work independently while following established procedures.
Experience with ServiceNow, JIRA, or similar ticket management platforms.
Knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals and familiarity with enterprise server, storage, and networking equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot routine operational and technical issues with limited supervision.
Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence in data center environments.
