Battery Thermal Engineer

What you'll do

• Develop state-of-the-art thermal, CFD, and multi-physics finite element models for cell, pack, and BMS sub-systems.
• Provide design and trade-off guidance to product teams through early-stage simulations for fast charging and high-power functions.
• Perform advanced ThermalCAE simulations to evaluate boundary conditions at the cell, pack, and system levels.
• Create models to convert power maps into thermal outputs.
• Collaborate with test and reliability labs to develop physical test methods and gather data for results validation.
• Develop optimized workflows and reusable templates for recurring thermal simulations.
• Explore new technologies including the application of AI/ML in physics-based simulations.
• Drive functionality improvements with CAE vendors to better serve the group's simulation needs.

What we're looking for

• Experience in thermal/CFD engineering simulations.
• Experience with Ansys electronics desktop (AEDT) - IcePak.
• Experience coding in Python.
• PhD and 10+ years relevant industry experience (preferred).
• Experience in transient thermal simulations of assemblies built using MCAD/ECAD inputs (preferred).
• Experience in electronic heating and cooling and CFD (preferred).
• Experience in AI/ML (surrogate modeling, digital twin) (preferred).
