What you'll do

  • Investigate problems and identify improvement opportunities within the NVIDIA Compiler Back End.
  • Construct and emit high-performance GPU machine instructions for Graphics and Compute workloads.
  • Oversee performance improvements and resolve technical issues in coordination with global hardware and application teams.
  • Develop compiler technology spanning architecture design to support functional languages.
  • Implement LLVM code generation features including instruction scheduling, software pipelining, and register allocation.
  • Utilize TableGen, LLVM IR, and Machine IR (MIR) to optimize backend performance.
  • Support diverse programming models including CUDA, PTX, OpenCL, Fortran, and C++.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Successful completion of an undergraduate Compiler Design class.
  • Strong coding skills in C/C++.
  • Background in LLVM code generation.
  • Strong writing and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to follow best practices for Software Engineering.
  • Experience with instruction scheduling, software pipelining, register allocation, GlobalISel, TableGen, LLVM IR, and Machine IR (MIR).
  • Preferred experience in GPU/parallel architectures, CUDA, PTX, or Graphics APIs like OpenGL, DX, or Vulkan.
