The AVP, Software Engineering Lead is a senior technology leader within the Corporate Functions IT organization. Required expertise includes agentic AI concepts, multi-agent systems, non-deterministic workflows, and cloud-native architectures. The role requires proficiency in API-driven and event-based systems, reliability engineering, and AI-assisted development tools to improve developer productivity and delivery predictability across distributed, cross-functional engineering teams.

What you'll do

Define and lead the enterprise AI engineering strategy aligned with business and technology priorities.
Roll out AI-first tools and processes to reimagine the software development lifecycle.
Establish engineering standards for GenAI, agent-augmented development, and reusable reference architectures.
Drive the adoption of AI-assisted development tools to improve developer productivity and quality.
Strengthen DevSecOps, CI/CD, and automation practices to ensure production readiness and observability.
Partner with Risk, Legal, and Security teams to ensure AI solutions meet regulatory and governance standards.
Implement engineering controls for logging, auditability, and model integration safeguards.
Mentor senior engineering talent and lead workforce strategy to build AI-ready technical capabilities.

What we're looking for

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
Advanced degree in a relevant field (preferred).
15+ years of technology experience in software engineering.
5+ years of experience leading engineering teams.
Experience leading AI-centric software engineering transformations and building AI-first engineering practices.
Deep expertise in agentic AI concepts, multi-agent systems, and non-deterministic workflows.
Experience operating within regulated, risk-sensitive environments such as insurance or financial services (preferred).
