What you'll do

  • Define and document a unified, long-term observability strategy covering metrics, traces, logs, and profiles.
  • Architect a cohesive, full-stack observability solution with a focus on self-service capabilities for product teams.
  • Identify and decommission redundant tools to create a standardized, cost-effective observability platform.
  • Partner with SRE teams to define and manage Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and error budgets.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts and strategic decisions to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Mentor engineers on best practices for instrumentation using OpenTelemetry and incident analysis via AIOps.
  • Research emerging technologies like eBPF and OpenTelemetry to keep the observability strategy modern.

What we're looking for

  • 10+ years of experience in observability, software engineering, SRE, or platform engineering.
  • Subject matter expertise in observability practices and tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace, BigPanda, or xMatters.
  • Experience designing solutions for multi-cloud environments including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Proficiency with the OpenTelemetry standard for instrumentation and telemetry collection.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and executing technical strategies across multiple teams or an entire organization.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to senior executives and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in tool rationalization, FinOps, eBPF, or a product mindset (preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree.
