Application Development Engineer - MULTIBASE(TM)
The Application Development Engineer supports the MULTIBASE product line, serving as a technical partner to drive customer success and identify product improvement opportunities. In this role, you will provide technical expertise across product development, application support, processing technologies, and troubleshooting while collaborating with global teams of manufacturing, sales, and marketing professionals. You will be responsible for interpreting technical data for product qualification, developing training materials, conducting experimental investigations into material performance, and leading the resolution of application issues. The role requires a deep understanding of thermoplastic processing technologies including compounding, injection molding, and extrusion, as well as polymer formulations and silicone-based compounds. Essential skills include proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP, strong project management, and technical communication to address complex challenges within the automotive, construction, electronics, wire and cable, and packaging markets.
Provide technical support and resolve product and application challenges for customers.
Generate and interpret technical data required for product qualification and approval in target applications.
Develop and deliver product training while creating technical literature and application resources.
Serve as a technical ambassador by leading presentations, meetings, and on-site engagements.
Conduct analytical and experimental work to investigate and resolve performance issues.
Maintain accurate documentation of test results, procedures, and customer interactions for compliance.
Provide technical insight into material composition and processing to guide solution development.
Represent the company at industry seminars and conferences to demonstrate technical expertise.
What we're looking for
B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
5+ years of experience supporting product development, applications, processing technologies, testing to industry standards, and technical problem solving.
Strong understanding of thermoplastic processing technologies, polymer materials, formulations, and silicone-based compounds.
Demonstrated experience in a TS&D, applications development, or customer-facing technical role.
Experience in thermoplastic compounding from formulation development through manufacturing scale-up.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with fluency in English.
Proven project management and organizational skills to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and business systems such as SAP.
