TL;DR · Wireless System Integration and Characterization Engineer

Wireless System Integration and Characterization Engineer As a member of a dynamic team, the Wireless System Integration and Characterization Engineer will perform system integration and characterization of state-of-the-art wireless SoC products. The role involves bringing up, integrating, and tuning PHY and radio systems on first-silicon, while executing performance characterization from chip back until shipping. Key responsibilities include debugging issues across PHY algorithms, RF circuits, firmware, and test setups to ensure robust performance across process and temperature corners. Candidates must possess expertise in communication theory, signal processing, and OFDM-based transceivers. Required skills include using signal analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators, alongside programming in Python, Matlab, Perl, C/C++, or C#. The role focuses on solving complex technical challenges in wireless communication protocols such as 802.11ax/be and LTE to optimize performance for high-end consumer electronics products.

What you'll do

  • Bring up, integrate, and tune PHY and radio systems on first-silicon wireless SoCs.
  • Characterize and validate PHY/RF performance across various operating modes and conditions.
  • Debug and root-cause system-level issues involving PHY algorithms, RF circuits, firmware, and test setups.
  • Optimize performance by refining calibration algorithms such as IQ imbalance, LO leakage, and power control.
  • Develop and automate test and characterization workflows to accelerate silicon evaluation and regression.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and ensure robust operation across different process and temperature corners.
  • Drive silicon maturity through iterative bring-up cycles until the product is ready for mass production.

What we're looking for

  • BS degree and 3-10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong fundamentals in RF/PHY systems, signal processing, communication theory, and analog impairments.
  • Practical expertise in applying these skills to OFDM-based transceivers.
  • MSEE or PhD degree (preferred).
  • Knowledge of wireless communication protocols such as 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be, LTE/WCDMA/GSM, or 802.11ad/ay (preferred).
  • Experience in system bring-up, integration, characterization, and debug of real wireless silicon in a lab (preferred).
  • Proficiency with RF test equipment such as signal analyzers, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers (preferred).
  • Experience with Python, Matlab, Perl, C/C++, or C# (preferred).
