As a member of the Windows Audio Software team, the #Windows Audio Software Engineer (Voice AI) — Engineer will design and build next-generation on-device Voice AI capabilities for Windows-on-Snapdragon platforms. The role involves owning feature development end-to-end, including wake-on-voice, ASR, translation, transcription, and TTS. You will develop audio and driver stack solutions across user-mode and kernel-mode boundaries using UMDF and KMDF while optimizing for strict latency and power targets. Key responsibilities include managing multi-threaded programming, concurrency control, and performance tuning across CPU, DSP, and NPU hardware. The ideal candidate possesses expertise in C/C++, Visual Studio, and Git-based workflows. You will solve complex technical challenges involving low-power "always-on" sensing and integrated audio pipelines to deliver robust, production-ready solutions within the Windows audio ecosystem while utilizing AI-assisted development tools for engineering tasks.
Own end-to-end feature development for Voice AI capabilities including wake-on-voice, ASR, translation, and TTS.
Translate product goals into technical requirements, architecture designs, and project milestones.
Design and implement Windows audio and driver stack solutions using CPU, DSP, and NPU resources.
Develop components across user-mode and kernel-mode boundaries using UMDF and KMDF frameworks.
Architect low-power "always-on" audio features while managing concurrency and power-mode transitions.
Debug complex multi-threaded and multi-processor issues across hardware and software boundaries.
Optimize system performance to meet strict latency and power targets for mobile and computing platforms.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
Master's Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field (preferred).
2+ years of industry experience in software engineering focusing on Windows system software, device drivers, multimedia/audio, platform software, or performance-sensitive products (preferred).
Proficiency in systems programming using C/C++ to deliver production-quality code in complex codebases (preferred).
Strong Windows development skills including Visual Studio, Git-based workflows, and experience with KMDF and/or UMDF drivers (preferred).
Solid understanding of Windows OS fundamentals such as processes, threads, synchronization primitives, memory, and performance diagnostics (preferred).
Experience with multi-threaded programming, concurrency control, and optimizing workloads across heterogeneous compute (CPU, DSP, NPU) (preferred).
Experience in the Windows audio ecosystem, low-power "always-on" scenarios, or Voice AI pipelines including ASR and TTS (preferred).
