Required skills include over seven years of experience in XML-based technical documentation, proficiency in interpreting engineering data, and expertise in MIL-STD-40051 content. Create, review, and edit user-focused technical manuals, procedures, checklists, and release notes for defense products.
Develop Data Modules in Mil-Std-40051-E XML format using Raytheon Eagle or Rapid Author tools.
Partner with Engineering and Operations teams to identify user workflows and translate complex technical data into clear documentation.
Lead stakeholders through a defined documentation roadmap to ensure all contract deliverables are accurate and on time.
Manage project risks by identifying potential delays, communicating expectations, and allocating necessary resources.
Establish the standard for tone, voice, and quality across all written artifacts and internal documentation processes.
Build a culture of technical documentation by creating training and processes for other team members to contribute content.
What we're looking for
7+ years of experience generating XML-based technical documentation, preferably in a DOD space.
Experience reading and interpreting engineering documentation.
Experience building MIL-STD-40051 content (preferably using RTX Eagle).
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills regarding technical subjects.
Ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines with high autonomy and project management skills.
Must be eligible for Secret and higher security clearance (US).
Military exposure and experience with military technical documentation standards like S1000D or MIL-STD-40051 (preferred).
Experience creating technical documentation for DOD products, using Siemens Rapid Author, or documenting software UIs in an Agile environment (preferred).
