TL;DR · VP, Head of Infrastructure, Sell Side, Capital Markets

The VP, Head of Infrastructure - Sell Side, Capital Markets leads the platforms, networks, and teams supporting principal and agency trading. This leader establishes infrastructure strategy, owning the architecture, investment roadmap, and service levels for data centers, colocation facilities, networks, compute, storage, and cloud services. Key responsibilities include delivering low-latency performance by addressing tail latency, jitter, and packet loss, while overseeing exchange connectivity, multicast market data, and time synchronization. The role requires managing high-performance networking, disaster recovery, and incident response for complex trading workflows. Candidates must possess expertise in FIX, order management systems, and high-performance networks. The position solves critical technical problems regarding market-data receipt, order submission, and venue acknowledgment, ensuring resilient, predictable performance under demanding market conditions while aligning technology decisions with trading outcomes and risk management.

What you'll do

  • Own the architecture, operating model, investment roadmap, and service levels for trading infrastructure across data centers, networks, and cloud services.
  • Measure and improve low-latency performance by addressing tail latency, jitter, packet loss, and throughput under peak market loads.
  • Oversee exchange connectivity, including cross-connects, routing, multicast market data, bandwidth capacity, and time synchronization.
  • Ensure infrastructure supports specific principal and agency trading workflows for pricing, hedging, order intake, and algorithmic execution.
  • Define recovery objectives, engineer failover mechanisms, and conduct disaster recovery testing for market-open incidents and volume spikes.
  • Establish observability, capacity planning, and disciplined incident response protocols while communicating business impacts and root causes.
  • Set standards for architecture, change management, security, vendor risk, and operational controls while maintaining transparent health reporting.
  • Build, coach, and retain multidisciplinary teams while establishing clear accountability and succession plans.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of software engineering, infrastructure engineering, or platform engineering experience (preferably in fintech or regulated financial services).
  • 10+ years of experience managing engineering teams, including responsibility for leadership pipelines, budgets, and vendor relationships.
  • Proven record leading large-scale, business-critical platforms and modernization programs, including AI-enabled engineering practices.
  • Experience improving availability, recovery, performance, and operational readiness for high-volume services.
  • Working knowledge of principal and agency trading workflows, market data, FIX, and order/execution management systems.
  • Deep expertise in high-performance networks, colocation, low-latency systems, and end-to-end performance measurement.
  • Ability to diagnose problems across network, operating-system, application, and venue boundaries while maintaining security and audit controls.
