The Transmission Compliance Engineer Principal-Staff serves as a technical leader within the Transmission Compliance organization, providing oversight and guidance for Level 2 controls and review processes. This role involves resolving verification issues, ensuring methodology adherence, managing equipment ratings, and leading root cause analysis activities to maintain compliance with established requirements. The position requires expert knowledge in specialized engineering areas to solve complex problems related to substation engineering, protection and control, and risk management. Key technical competencies include familiarity with FAC-008, PRC, and CIP requirements, alongside proficiency in enterprise systems such as IPS, VeriFact, Vault, TPS, and SharePoint. The role addresses critical infrastructure challenges by ensuring the reliability of electrical systems through rigorous compliance oversight, auditing practices, and the development of corrective actions within a complex regulatory environment.
Provide technical leadership and oversight for Level 2 controls and review processes within the Transmission Compliance organization.
Resolve verification issues identified during reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance with established requirements.
Serve as a subject matter expert for methodology adherence, equipment ratings, corrective action development, and root cause analysis.
Develop and implement plans to address system-wide issues within specialized technical fields.
Solve complex engineering problems using advanced knowledge of equipment and specialized problem-solving techniques.
Prepare and present complex technical subjects to senior management, regulatory bodies, and professional organizations.
Make high-level technical decisions that impact the company's strategic direction and business objectives.
What we're looking for
A Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program with 8 or more years of experience is required for SG9.
A Master's or PhD in engineering from an ABET accredited program with 6 or more years of experience is required for SG9.
A Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's or PhD from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program is an acceptable alternative.
A Bachelor's degree in engineering with 10 or more years of experience is required for SG10.
A Master's degree or PhD in engineering with 8 years of experience is required for SG10.
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is preferred.
Electrical Engineering background is preferred, though Mechanical backgrounds are considered for station roles.
Experience with substation engineering, compliance programs (FAC-008, PRC, CIP), and internal controls is preferred.
