TL;DR · Technology Support Lead

As a Technology Support Lead on the Remote Access Team, you will ensure the stability, availability, and secure operation of a large-scale remote-access and network security environment. You will provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for remote-access VPN services, site-to-site VPNs, and perimeter firewalls while managing incident response, change delivery, and automation initiatives. Your daily work involves triaging incidents across Cisco ASA, Firepower Threat Defense, and Identity Services Engine platforms. You will manage ISE policy sets, perform software lifecycle maintenance on Firepower chassis, and utilize ThousandEyes to monitor user experience and network health. To reduce operational toil, you will use Python, Ansible, Git, and various REST APIs for automation. The role requires deep expertise in Cisco security products, networking fundamentals like BGP and OSPF, and infrastructure-as-code practices to secure enterprise connectivity.

What you'll do

  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for remote-access VPN services, site-to-site VPNs, and perimeter firewall services.
  • Triage, diagnose, and resolve technical incidents across Cisco ASA, Firepower Threat Defense, and Identity Services Engine platforms.
  • Lead major incident bridges, conduct root-cause analysis, and deliver post-incident reviews with preventative actions.
  • Implement complex network changes including policy, NAT, ACL, VPN, and SSL decryption via Cisco management tools.
  • Manage ISE policy sets, authentication rules, posture, profiling, and certificate services integrated with Active Directory and MFA.
  • Maintain Firepower software lifecycles, including hardware upgrades, high-availability clustering, and logical device provisioning.
  • Monitor remote-access user experience and network health using ThousandEyes to build dashboards and automated alerts.
  • Reduce operational toil by developing automation scripts and utilizing Infrastructure-as-Code practices with Python, Ansible, and Git.

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of experience or equivalent expertise troubleshooting, resolving, and maintaining information technology services.
  • Experience operating Cisco network security platforms in a large enterprise or service-provider environment.
  • Hands-on expertise with Cisco ASA including multi-context, failover, clustering, NAT, ACL, AnyConnect/SSL VPN, IPsec, DAP, and split tunneling.
  • Production experience with Cisco Firepower / FTD managed through FMC and/or Cisco Defense Orchestrator.
  • Working knowledge of Firepower Chassis Manager / FXOS for logical device provisioning and software upgrades on 41xx/93xx-class hardware.
  • Operational experience with Cisco ISE including RADIUS/TACACS+, 802.1X, MAB, posture, profiling, and certificate-based authentication.
  • Experience using Cisco Security Manager and Cisco Defense Orchestrator for multi-device policy management and change orchestration.
  • Hands-on experience with ThousandEyes for agent deployment, test design, alerting, and root-cause analysis.
  • Solid networking fundamentals including BGP, OSPF, NAT, QoS, PKI, DNS, and TCP/IP troubleshooting using packet capture and Wireshark.
  • Strong incident management discipline and clear communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work on-site five days per week and participate in an on-call rotation.
  • CCNP Security, CCIE Security, ThousandEyes certifications, or Cisco Certified Specialist certifications (preferred).
  • Experience migrating ASA to FTD at scale or FMC to cloud-delivered FMC through CDO-managed environments (preferred).
  • Scripting experience in Python and familiarity with Ansible, Git, and CI/CD pipelines for network change (preferred).
  • Experience integrating telemetry into Splunk, ELK, Grafana, and SOAR platforms (preferred).
