Preferred technical skills include Python, Java, Spring, Nuxt, Vue, JavaScript, AWS, Azure, Google Analytics, and Firebase to solve problems within the biodiversity data and conservation technology domain.

What you'll do

Oversee complex software projects from initiation to completion for Merlin and eBird platforms.
Provide direction and motivation to Agile/Scrum teams of software engineers and project staff.
Manage project planning, resource allocation, implementation, tracking, and reporting.
Define project scope and coordinate activities between technical teams and external collaborators.
Advise senior staff on the formulation of project budgets and financial management.
Communicate project goals and responsibilities clearly to the project team and stakeholders.
Establish and maintain clear stakeholder expectations as projects evolve.
Translate new ideas into functional features and data products for conservation practitioners.

What we're looking for

Bachelor’s degree in software development management, biological sciences, information sciences, or a relevant field.
At least three years of work experience in project management and coordinating software engineering teams.
Experience watching birds and/or working on projects to advance bird conservation.
Exceptional project management skills to coordinate multiple groups toward public launch deliverables and timelines.
Experience managing complex technical projects across multiple teams and cross-functional groups.
In-depth technical knowledge of software development, modern web applications, frontend user interfaces, APIs, and web services.
Experience using software development project management tools such as Jira and GitHub.
Advanced degree (preferred).
