The Technical Engineering Manager leads a team of software engineers to deliver high-quality software for a digital sales and service platform serving U.S. banks and credit unions. This role involves coordinating tasks across Engineering, Quality Engineering, SRE, and Product departments to ensure seamless software delivery. Responsibilities include mentoring direct reports, performing hands-on code reviews, designing scalable APIs, and managing on-call incidents. The manager must drive technical discussions, reduce technical debt, and oversee architecture design for cloud-native applications. Write and review code, debug complex issues, and design scalable platform services.
Lead, mentor, and provide performance feedback to a team of software engineers.
Build and oversee system architecture designs to ensure high-quality software delivery.
Coordinate with Product, Security, and Operations teams to align engineering execution with business goals.
Identify technical bottlenecks and drive improvements in scalability, resilience, and cost-efficiency.
Define and track engineering KPIs such as deployment frequency, MTTR, and test coverage.
Manage on-call incidents and troubleshoot critical disruptions to ensure minimal downtime.
Collaborate with Product Management to define functional requirements and technical debt priorities.
What we're looking for
Must be eligible to work in the US for full-time employment.
Requires hands-on experience in technologies such as .NET, Java, C#, Linux Container Development, k8s, MVC, SaaS, SOA, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, Modern Javascript Frameworks, Entity Framework, or microservices.
Requires proven experience building and delivering SaaS-based software with modern system architecture, including microservices and cloud-native applications.
Requires experience with at least one major cloud service provider such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Requires experience with operational excellence practices including DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and observability tools like Grafana or New Relic.
Requires experience with real-time processing using event-driven architecture and batch processing of high-volume transactions.
Requires experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and managing teams of software engineers, including managing global teams across multiple timezones.
Requires experience in Lean-Agile development methodologies such as Kanban or Scrum.
Experience in fintech, digital banking, or other highly regulated industries (preferred).
Knowledge of treasury management, cash positioning, liquidity management, commercial payments, and banking data formats like ISO 20022 (preferred).
