TL;DR · System Engineer IV, Wet Chemical Tool

System Engineer IV - Wet Chemical Tool As a System Engineer IV - Wet Chemical Tool, you will join the team to design, integrate, and optimize complex systems for the next-generation copper Electrochemical Deposition platform. You will lead engineering projects from concept through release, translating on-wafer performance requirements into hardware and control system implementations across wafer handling, plating chambers, fluid delivery, chemistry, controls, and automation. Your daily work involves performing hands-on integration testing, identifying root-cause hypotheses, and managing multi-disciplinary subsystem interfaces to ensure reliability and throughput targets are met. You will utilize tools such as UG NX for 3D CAD, JMP and MS Excel for statistical data analysis, and simulation software like ANSYS or COMSOL. This role addresses the technical challenges of copper plating and wafer cleaning within the semiconductor manufacturing domain to solve intricate process problems.

What you'll do

  • Lead end-to-end execution of engineering projects to deliver system-level solutions for copper Electrochemical Deposition platforms.
  • Translate on-wafer performance requirements into specific engineering design requirements for mechanical, electrical, and software teams.
  • Resolve system-level issues and manage interfaces across mechanical, electrical, controls, and software domains.
  • Drive the development of complex subsystems from initial concept through build, supplier engagement, and final validation.
  • Optimize system design tradeoffs regarding performance, throughput, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and serviceability.
  • Perform tool bring-up, debugging, integration testing, and qualification to meet production readiness targets.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks using first-principles calculations, simulation tools, and statistical data analysis.
  • Create and review engineering documentation while communicating system status to cross-functional teams and customers.

What we're looking for

  • Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is required, or an equivalent combination of a Bachelor's degree and additional experience.
  • 7+ years of applicable experience in semiconductor equipment development is required for those with a Master's or PhD.
  • Experience integrating multi-disciplinary subsystems including mechanical, electrical, controls, and software on complex capital equipment is required.
  • Track record of driving tool bring-up, integration testing, and qualification from concept through production readiness is required.
  • Experience leading root-cause investigations to reduce integration risk and accelerate development timelines is required.
  • 3D CAD experience with tools such as UG NX or equivalent is required.
  • Experience with statistical data analysis tools such as JMP and MS Excel is required.
  • Experience with wet process or electrochemical systems, engineering simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, CFD-Ace, COMSOL), or advanced manufacturing are preferred.
