As a Staff, Software Engineer, you will join the eCommerce Search team to provide technical leadership for backend micro-services, data pipelines, and ML-serving infrastructure. What you'll do

Define the technical direction and architecture for backend micro-services and ML-serving infrastructure.
Design, build, and optimize high-throughput, low-latency services for search and retrieval.
Architect complex query patterns and data pipelines to power search relevance and feature stores.
Lead the discovery and design of large-scale initiatives by translating business requirements into technical solutions.
Develop and validate prototypes through proof-of-concepts and A/B experiments to measure search quality.
Collaborate with data scientists to productionize machine learning models within the search ecosystem.
Own production reliability by managing observability, on-call rotations, and root cause analyses.
Mentor engineers and maintain high quality standards through code reviews and technical leadership.

What we're looking for

10+ years of experience designing and shipping production code in large-scale distributed systems.
Bachelor's degree in a related field with 8 years of software engineering experience, a Master's with 6 years, or 10 years of experience.
Deep expertise in backend development with strong object-oriented design fundamentals and Java and Spring Boot (a plus).
Hands-on experience building data/feature pipelines using streaming/batch techniques with technologies like Spark, Kafka, Hive, GCP, and Cassandra.
Proven track record of technically leading teams, setting architectural direction, and mentoring engineers.
Strong communication skills to articulate technical trade-offs to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
Familiarity with ML model integration and the machine learning ecosystem.
Knowledge of implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards (preferred).
