What you'll do

Design and operate highly available backend services for growth notifications across push, email, and SMS channels.
Own the end-to-end architecture for notification systems focusing on reliability, cost efficiency, and user retention.
Define multi-quarter roadmaps and lead technical direction for large, ambiguous projects from concept to launch.
Integrate upstream signals and downstream use cases into a coherent, scalable growth notifications platform.
Implement best practices in distributed systems including SLIs/SLOs, incident management, and cost management.
Use data from metrics, logging, and tracing to debug and harden large-scale systems.
Mentor and uplevel engineers while providing clear technical guidance and team structure.

What we're looking for

Require 9+ years of post-Bachelor’s experience, or a Master’s degree with 8+ years, or a PhD with 5+ years.
Experience designing, building, and operating backend services or distributed systems at significant scale.
Proven track record of managing mission-critical systems including on-call participation and incident response.
Ability to lead technical strategy, define multi-quarter roadmaps, and manage complex cross-functional initiatives.
Strong foundation in system design including APIs, data models, storage, pub/sub, and performance optimization.
Experience with observability tools such as metrics, logging, tracing, and using data to debug systems.
Proficiency in at least one of Java, Go, C++, or Python.
Experience with NoSQL stores, caches, cloud services, and high-throughput task-queue systems.
