Staff Software Engineer, Alloy Integrations

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain integrations between Metronome and external billing, payment, ERP, and CRM platforms.
• Build reliable, event-driven systems for invoice delivery, payment workflows, and status synchronization.
• Ship features that allow customers to control how they invoice, collect, and account for revenue.
• Improve system observability and automated repair to identify and fix issues before customers notice them.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and lead incident response, root-cause analysis, and follow-up work.
• Plan and execute migrations and changes to existing integrations without disrupting customer billing.
• Scope work and represent customer needs by partnering with product, support, and solutions architecture teams.

What we're looking for

• 10+ years of professional experience building and operating backend systems in production.
• Experience designing and integrating with third-party APIs, including handling failures, retries, and data consistency.
• Experience with distributed or event-driven systems, such as message queues, streams, or workflow engines.
• Experience owning services in production, including monitoring, on-call, and incident response.
• Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs clearly to engineers and to people outside engineering.
• Experience with billing, invoicing, payments, tax, or other financial systems where correctness matters (preferred).
• Experience with AWS serverless and data services such as Lambda, Kinesis, SQS, or Step Functions (preferred).
• Familiarity with ERP or CRM platforms such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or Salesforce, or with cloud marketplace billing (preferred).
