Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Shopping Ads

What you'll do

• Own end-to-end technical delivery for cross-team initiatives from problem framing through production rollout.
• Build and evolve ML and GenAI systems for merchant content enrichment, attribute extraction, and entity resolution.
• Establish robust evaluation practices including golden datasets, human-in-the-loop reviews, and automated regression testing.
• Design production systems with specific focus on quality, cost, latency, reliability, and safety guardrails.
• Define the technical roadmap and establish engineering standards for the ML engineering operating model.
• Drive experimentation and A/B testing to translate error analysis into measurable improvements for shopping outcomes.
• Mentor team members on technical design, evaluation rigor, and production readiness for AI/ML tooling.
• Translate ambiguous product needs into concrete ML deliverables by partnering with cross-functional stakeholders.

What we're looking for

• 8+ years of industry experience in ML engineering, applied ML, or software engineering.
• Experience operating as a Staff-level individual contributor delivering complex production systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead 0→1 ML/LLM efforts from ambiguous problem spaces to production.
• Track record of shipping ML-powered systems in recommendation, ranking, retrieval, or commerce domains.
• Hands-on experience building production LLM-powered applications or adjacent GenAI systems.
• Deep experience with evaluation and measurement, including dataset strategy, labeling, and metric design.
• Strong systems design skills for data- and ML-intensive systems with a focus on scalability and cost.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
