Staff Engineer, Production Planning and Scheduling joins the Maritime Manufacturing Technology team to manage production processes for advanced maritime systems. This role is responsible for creating and maintaining an integrated master schedule that unifies engineering, material, manufacturing, and quality workflows into a single cohesive plan. You will perform critical path analysis, resolve scheduling conflicts, manage shop load based on real-time resource availability, and conduct risk analysis during re-baselining. The work involves standing up production control functions, defining data models for the LOKI system, and mentoring team members. Required expertise includes experience in shipbuilding or aerospace manufacturing and proficiency with tools such as P6, MS Project, Open Plan, Aurora, Forge, Odoo, SAP, Solumina, or Oracle. This role solves complex logistics challenges by coordinating large-scale production of defense hardware like surface vessels and undersea vehicles.
Manage the integrated master schedule for module production across engineering, material, manufacturing, and quality departments.
Identify and resolve critical path conflicts while communicating impacts of changes to the program.
Determine daily shop load and dispatch based on real-time material availability, labor capacity, and nonconformances.
Measure plan performance against actual progress using earned value metrics to inform future planning.
Perform risk analysis and re-baseline programs when production requirements or schedules change.
Conduct "Gemba" work by physically engaging with welders, machinists, and planners on the manufacturing floor.
Establish the production control function including cadence, artifacts, metrics, and supply chain interfaces.
Define the data model for the dynamic scheduling system to standardize production steps.
What we're looking for
10+ years of experience in production planning, production control, or master scheduling in shipbuilding, aerospace, or heavy manufacturing.
Demonstrated ability to build and manage integrated schedules for complex manufacturing or defense programs.
Experience managing critical paths and network logic while accounting for material and labor fluctuations.
Familiarity with controlled production environments such as defense, aerospace, or automotive.
Fluency with scheduling toolsets (P6, MS Project, Open Plan, Aurora) and ERP/MES systems (Forge, Odoo, SAP, Solumina, Oracle).
Must be a U.S. Person due to access requirements for export-controlled information or facilities.
Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Experience in submarine or surface-ship construction, critical chain theory, earned value management, or standing up new production lines (preferred); PMP/PMI-SP certification (preferred).
