Staff Engineer, Payments (Mobile & Terminal Experiences)

What you'll do

• Architect the long-term technical strategy for mobile apps, SDKs, payment terminals, and distributed backend systems.
• Build next-generation payment experiences across various devices, applications, and payment surfaces.
• Resolve complex technical issues regarding reliability, performance, security, and device compatibility at a global scale.
• Translate ambiguous business goals into executable plans and prototypes to drive stakeholder consensus.
• Establish clear architectural boundaries, APIs, and integration patterns for cross-functional teams.
• Mentor engineers across all levels to help them solve complex problems and understand system decisions.
• Improve engineering standards for observability, testing, and operational excellence with internal and external partners.

What we're looking for

• 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in modern production environments.
• 5+ years of direct, hands-on mobile development experience with proven proficiency in either Android (Kotlin) or iOS (Swift).
• Proven track record of operating at a Staff-level scope.
• Deep understanding of mobile architecture, SDK design, concurrency, performance, and large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience building and maintaining merchant- or consumer-facing SDKs.
• Ability to cross-train onto the mobile platform not currently specialized in.
• Experience leading technical direction and influencing stakeholders without formal authority.
