TL;DR · Staff Electrical Hardware Engineer, Central Compute

Staff Electrical Hardware Engineer - Central Compute serves as a technical leader within the team responsible for developing next-generation Central Compute, ADAS, and software-defined vehicle platforms. The role involves defining electrical hardware architectures, managing system partitioning, power architecture, and high-speed interconnects while ensuring compliance with ISO 26262 functional safety requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing mixed-signal and power circuitry designs, conducting Worst Case Circuit Analysis, performing power integrity assessments, and leading first-board bring-up and debugging for advanced compute platforms. The position requires expertise in analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronics, as well as experience with Ethernet, PCIe, DDR, and SerDes interfaces. This role solves complex technical challenges regarding hardware scalability, reliability, and manufacturability to ensure robust performance across multiple vehicle programs while mentoring engineers and establishing design standards for high-performance compute systems.

What you'll do

  • Define and drive electrical hardware architecture for Central Compute and high-performance platforms.
  • Lead technical trade studies to balance performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Oversee complex mixed-signal, high-speed digital, and power circuitry designs including PCB strategy.
  • Conduct electrical robustness assessments including WCCA, power integrity, and thermal evaluations.
  • Ensure hardware compliance with ISO 26262 functional safety requirements and design-for-reliability standards.
  • Lead first-board bring-up, integration, and root cause investigations for advanced compute platforms.
  • Define Hardware Software Interface Specifications (HSIS) to ensure platform scalability and maintainability.
  • Mentor engineering teams and serve as a subject matter expert for hardware architecture decisions.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience developing automotive or other high-complexity electronic systems.
  • Expertise in analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power electronics design.
  • Proven experience leading hardware architecture and complex ECU development programs.
  • Extensive experience with schematic design, electrical analysis, and hardware debugging.
  • Deep understanding of WCCA, DFMEA, reliability engineering, and hardware development processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical decisions and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and technical leadership skills.
