The Staff Cyber Systems Engineer joins the mission payload and ground system team to serve as a Cyber Subject Matter Expert. This role focuses on ensuring compliance within the Risk Management Framework while identifying, researching, and testing technologies from industry, academia, and government sources to address Cyberspace Operations deficiencies. Key responsibilities include providing systems engineering recommendations for complex software and hardware systems, developing technical standard operating procedures, and performing security assessments to ensure compliance with NIST SP 800-53, CNSSI 1253, and DoD RMF Knowledge Service guidance. The position requires expertise in COMSEC, COMPUSEC, EMSEC, and OPSEC, alongside experience with network protocols, computer architectures, and penetration tools. Candidates must possess a STEM degree, extensive engineering experience, an active Top Secret clearance, and a DoD 8570 certification like Sec+, CASP, or CISSP.
Act as the Cyber Subject Matter Expert to ensure compliance within the Risk Management Framework.
Research, analyze, and test COTS, GOTS, and open-source technologies to solve Cyberspace Operations capability gaps.
Provide systems engineering recommendations for the development of complex software and hardware systems.
Develop and document technical standard operating processes and procedures.
Perform security assessments to ensure compliance with NIST SP 800-53, CNSSI 1253, and DoD RMF guidance.
Apply Cyber Security technologies including COMSEC, COMPUSEC, EMSEC, and OPSEC to network protocols and architectures.
Support the continuous assessment of IA Control compliance for the program.
Create milestones and metrics to monitor adherence to software plans and schedules.
What we're looking for
Must have a Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 12+ years of engineering experience.
Must have a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 10+ years of engineering experience.
Must have a PhD in a STEM discipline with 8+ years of engineering experience.
Must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance at time of application.
Must have U.S. Citizenship.
Must possess a DoD 8570 Security certification such as Sec+, CASP, CISSP, or equivalent.
Must have experience executing the Risk Management Framework (RMF) lifecycle and maintaining continuous monitoring for mid-sized enterprise environments.
Must have experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems (preferred).
Must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret/SCI clearance (preferred).
