As an SRE Software Engineer III within Consumer & Community Banking, you will balance hands-on software development with technical resiliency to build and run scalable services. You will improve production stability by designing automation to reduce manual work, implementing self-healing patterns, and managing high-priority incidents through triage and post-incident reviews. Your daily work involves building end-to-end observability using metrics, logs, and traces while partnering with product teams to ensure sustainable releases. You will utilize Python, Java, or shell scripting within Linux/Unix environments, leveraging tools like Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, and Git-based CI/CD workflows. Additionally, you will use enterprise-authorized AI coding assistants for refactoring and testing. The role addresses the challenge of maintaining high availability and reducing operational toil for large-scale distributed systems while ensuring secure, reliable delivery in a complex production environment.
Engineer and improve reliability for large-scale distributed services using software and systems engineering best practices.
Design and deliver automation to reduce manual operational work and improve recovery times.
Lead high-priority incident response, triage issues to resolution, and conduct post-incident reviews.
Implement self-healing patterns, resilience strategies, and capacity management to reduce operational toil.
Build and evolve end-to-end observability standards including metrics, logs, and traces for actionable monitoring.
Analyze incident data and usage patterns to proactively identify and prevent customer-impacting risks.
Utilize AI coding tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and documentation across complex deliverables.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years of applied experience.
Hands-on software development experience in one or more general-purpose languages like Python, Java, or shell scripting for production systems.
Experience operating and improving reliability of distributed systems on Linux/Unix environments across application, infrastructure, and data layers.
Experience with cloud and virtualization concepts, APIs, and modern engineering practices for scalable, fault-tolerant services.
Experience building observability and operational diagnostics using monitoring and logging platforms like Dynatrace, Splunk, or Grafana.
Working knowledge of version control and modern delivery practices such as Git-based workflows and CI/CD.
Hands-on experience with enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools including the ability to validate outputs for security and performance.
Experience with Kubernetes, containerized workloads, and cloud architecture certifications (preferred); 5+ years of related industry experience (preferred).
