Senior Systems Dev Engineer

What you'll do

• Define and own the OISL Network Operations strategy, including tooling roadmaps and automation priorities.
• Lead the NetOps on-call program by designing escalation paths, automated ticketing, and incident response runbooks.
• Build scalable services to automate monitoring, fault detection, and classification for the optical inter-satellite link network.
• Develop data pipelines and observability platforms for KPI tracking, anomaly detection, and real-time monitoring.
• Apply ML/AI techniques for fault correlation, root cause analysis, and predictive failure detection.
• Perform hands-on development of tools and services using Python, Spark SQL, and cloud services.
• Lead investigations into complex link failures and constellation-level fault patterns in collaboration with hardware and software teams.
• Author technical specifications, operational documentation, and design testing strategies for distributed satellite network systems.

What we're looking for

• Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or granted asylum/refugee status for export control compliance.
• 6+ years of experience in systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement.
• Experience leading the design, automation, deployment, and support of large-scale infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Python, Ruby, or Java; PowerShell experience is preferred.
• Experience in Network Operations with proficiency in troubleshooting complex issues across Layer-1 (Optical) or Layer-2/3 (Switching and Routing).
• 6+ years of experience in satellite network operations, telecommunications, or large-scale distributed networks (preferred).
• Hands-on experience with network monitoring, observability tools like Prometheus or Grafana, and building data pipelines using Spark or SQL (preferred).
• Programming proficiency in Python plus one other language (Go, Java, C++, Rust) and experience with AWS cloud services (preferred).
