Sr. System Engineer - Supply Chain Digitization - B2B joins the GM EDI team to develop and maintain an EDI strategy for secure business data exchange across the supply chain. This role involves supporting EDI operations, modernization, and process automation while managing partner onboarding and production support. You will design B2B solutions using APIs and traditional formats such as ANSI X.12, UN/EDIFACT, RND, and VDA standards to translate business requirements into mapping logic and integration patterns. Key responsibilities include monitoring data flows, performing root cause analysis, and driving innovation in AI-assisted operations and intelligent mapping. The role requires expertise in manufacturing, retail, and financial transaction sets like DELFOR, DELJIT, and DESADV. You will collaborate with internal teams and SaaS vendors to ensure seamless integration into ERP/MRP systems for logistics, purchasing, and inventory reporting.
Manage and improve end-to-end EDI data flows by monitoring systems, handling exceptions, and performing root cause analysis.
Design B2B solutions using APIs and traditional standards such as ANSI X.12, UN/EDIFACT, RND, and VDA.
Translate complex business requirements into transaction-set designs, mapping logic, and scalable integration patterns.
Support supplier and customer onboarding, trading partner escalations, and product launch operations.
Partner with internal teams and SaaS vendors to define technical requirements and shape solution roadmaps.
Drive innovation in AI-assisted operations, intelligent mapping, and automated business process workflows.
Document technical specifications, mapping rules, and standard operating procedures for EDI systems.
Ensure EDI data integrates correctly into upstream and downstream ERP/MRP business workflows.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Significant experience in EDI, B2B/B2C integration, systems engineering, systems analysis, or enterprise application integration.
Deep experience in EDI analysis, design, implementation, and support within complex enterprise environments.
Experience with API development, modern integration patterns, and AI-enabled automation opportunities.
Strong working knowledge of ANSI X.12, UN/EDIFACT, RND, VDA, and common manufacturing, retail, and financial transaction sets.
Understanding of business processes for supplier/customer schedules, releases, shipments, orders, invoices, and inventory reporting.
Ability to translate business requirements into transaction-set design, mapping rules, integration logic, and supportable technical solutions.
Experience with EDI translation platforms, data validation, exception handling, and partnering with SaaS vendors at a technical level.
