The Sr. Staff Engineer, Automotive Reliability/Team Lead joins the Reliability Development Engineering team to lead the automotive reliability strategy for high-impact products. This role involves managing and mentoring engineers while serving as a technical authority on materials, properties, and production techniques. Key responsibilities include defining AEC-aligned qualification methodologies, optimizing burn-in and production screening strategies to meet DPPM objectives, and providing expert judgment on reliability tradeoffs regarding performance and cost. The position requires expertise in physics-of-failure, failure mechanisms, and semiconductor component reliability. You will drive cross-functional alignment to integrate reliability requirements throughout the product development lifecycle, manage external qualification laboratories, and represent the company in customer-facing technical engagements. The work focuses on ensuring automotive quality and safety for complex semiconductor products and systems.
Lead the Automotive Reliability team to drive reliability strategy and execution for high-impact automotive products.
Define and evolve automotive reliability requirements, AEC-aligned qualification methodologies, and validation strategies for complex designs.
Optimize automotive burn-in and production screening strategies to achieve quality and DPPM objectives while balancing costs.
Provide expert technical judgment on critical reliability tradeoffs involving performance, power, quality, and business considerations.
Represent the company in customer-facing technical engagements, including qualification reviews, reliability assessments, and audit support.
Communicate reliability status, qualification readiness, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
Manage external qualification laboratories and suppliers to drive end-to-end execution of stress testing and validation programs.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Material Science, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Reliability Engineering experience.
Master's degree in Engineering, Material Science, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Reliability Engineering experience.
PhD in Engineering, Material Science, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Reliability Engineering experience.
2+ years in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports.
8+ years of experience in semiconductor and/or component reliability, physics-of-failure, failure mechanisms, and qualification methodologies with automotive experience (preferred).
6+ years of strong working knowledge of applicable AEC standards and specifications (preferred).
3+ years of managerial and/or mentoring experience developing engineers and setting reliability standards (preferred).
Master’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field (preferred).
