Senior Software Engineer, Compute

What you'll do

• Design and build end-to-end systems for orchestration, monitoring, and frameworks at a global scale.
• Build and maintain an extensible multi-cloud compute platform across AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI.
• Influence cloud provider roadmaps to align with Uber's specific business needs and infrastructure requirements.
• Contribute to Linux open source projects to enable graceful degradation during resource contention.
• Provide deep technical mentorship and conduct code and design reviews for engineering teams.
• Identify architectural gaps and implement solutions to reduce technical debt across the organization.
• Define organization-wide standards for building scalable, fault-tolerant cloud services.

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of professional experience building scalable, fault-tolerant platforms and delivering business-critical cloud services.
• Proficiency in Go, C/C++, or Java.
• Proven experience leading large-scale engineering projects from inception to global productionization.
• Experience identifying architectural gaps and reducing technical debt across an organization.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of professional experience building scalable, fault-tolerant platforms and delivering business-critical cloud services (preferred).
• Experience operating a large fleet of Linux machines, Linux internals, or container orchestration (preferred).
• Experience building compute platforms in AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI (preferred).
