Senior Software Engineer, Android

What you'll do

• Create new features and platform capabilities using autonomous vehicle data and operational insights.
• Build features that drive critical business growth for autonomous vehicles on the Uber platform.
• Lead technical projects from inception through design to global deployment and productionization.
• Balance technical trade-offs between speed, performance, and quality to align with business goals.
• Define standards for testing, monitoring, and alerting systems while overseeing complex incident management.
• Identify architectural gaps and create org-wide frameworks to improve developer velocity and reduce technical debt.
• Develop high-quality mobile UI experiences and features for customer-facing applications.

What we're looking for

• BS/BE degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 4+ years of Software Engineering work experience.
• Extensive hands-on Android development experience with proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin programming and code reviews.
• Proven ability to lead technical projects end-to-end from inception through design to global deployment and productionization.
• Expertise in defining standards for testing, monitoring, and alerting systems and overseeing complex incident management.
• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (preferred).
• Background in autonomous vehicles with experience developing, testing, or optimizing AV systems (preferred).
• Experience in developing mobile apps used by hundreds of millions of users globally (preferred).
