The Sr Scientist, Tech - Science joins the Rider Pricing and Incentives Science team to manage automated real-time pricing systems. This role involves turning unstructured marketplace data into algorithmic strategies that influence global mobility ride decisions. You will build, scale, and optimize statistical, mathematical programming, and machine learning models for dynamic pricing applications. Key responsibilities include developing novel experimentation and causal inference methodologies, generating data insights to enhance algorithm performance, and designing diagnostic tools and logging infrastructure. You must demonstrate proficiency in Python, R, and SQL for large-scale data analysis and algorithmic prototyping. The position requires expertise in areas such as control theory, mathematical optimization, statistical inference, machine learning, or econometrics to solve complex marketplace problems and translate optimization results into actionable business strategies.
Build, scale, and optimize statistical, mathematical programming, and ML models for dynamic pricing applications.
Generate data insights to identify opportunities to enhance algorithm performance.
Develop novel experimentation and causal inference methodologies for complex marketplace settings.
Translate granular marketplace data and complex optimization results into actionable business strategies for leadership.
Design robust diagnostic tools, logging infrastructure, and marketplace metrics to unblock technical and operational barriers.
Drive systems end-to-end from ideation to production by aligning with product and engineering partners.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Operations Research, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or an equivalent quantitative field.
5+ years of professional industry experience as an Applied Scientist, Data Scientist, Economist, or equivalent (or 3+ years with a Ph.D.).
Strong foundation in at least one key domain: control theory, mathematical optimization, statistical inference, machine learning, or econometrics.
Proficiency in Python/R and SQL for large-scale data analysis and algorithmic prototyping.
Experience in designing, analyzing, and interpreting complex experiments across key marketplace performance indicators.
6+ years of industry experience applying data science, optimization, or economics in dynamic marketplace or pricing environments (preferred).
Demonstrated success partnering with Product, Engineering, and Operations partners to deploy algorithms into production (preferred).
Hands-on experience building large-scale pricing, auction, advertising, or supply-demand matching algorithms (preferred).
