The Sr. RF Front-End Module Design Engineer joins the RFIC Engineering team to develop cutting-edge RF modules for the Starlink Mobile network. This role involves the specification, material-selection, design, simulation, integration, fabrication, production, measurement, debug, and optimization of compact multi-chip modules containing custom RF front-end components. The engineer will design modules for 5G NR, LTE, and Wi-Fi applications, integrating RFICs like PAs, LNAs, and switches with BAW/SAW filters and printed passives. Key tasks include performing circuit and EM simulations, conducting lab bring-up, and managing laminate suppliers. Required skills include proficiency in ADS, HFSS, AWR, MATLAB, and Python, alongside experience with spectrum analyzers and vector signal analyzers to characterize radio performance for cellular and Wi-Fi systems.
Design and develop RF front-end multi-chip modules (MCMs) for 5G NR, LTE, and Wi-Fi applications.
Integrate RFICs, power management ICs, BAW/SAW filters, and printed passives into compact modules.
Design custom passives such as inductors and couplers printed into module laminates.
Perform detailed circuit and EM simulations, including co-simulation of full modules with sub-components.
Conduct lab bring-up, characterization, and debugging of module prototypes to optimize subsequent iterations.
Develop ATE test plans and coordinate with OSAT teams on implementation.
Perform yield analysis and implement design improvements for high-volume production.
Support the integration of RF modules into production PCBAs.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science.
5+ years of research and/or industry experience in RF/Microwave engineering or RFIC engineering.
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible for Department of State authorization.
Master’s degree or PhD in an engineering discipline with emphasis in RF/microwave circuits, BAW/SAW resonators, advanced semiconductor packaging, or electromagnetic theory (preferred).
Experience in designing multi-chip RF modules for cellular or Wi-Fi applications (preferred).
Familiarity with MCM substrate/packaging technologies, manufacturing processes, and BAW filter design (preferred).
Experience in designing linear and non-linear circuits such as PAs, LNAs, mixers, filters, and PLLs (preferred).
Proficiency in ADS, HFSS, AWR, MATLAB, Python, and radio-related test equipment (preferred).
