What you'll do

Design, build, and qualify optical metrology stations for the manufacturing of intersatellite link systems.
Develop and improve optical measurement methods using interferometers, imaging systems, and high-speed lasers.
Analyze technical problems in optical testing and manufacturing to develop optimal solutions.
Create measurement processes and procedures suitable for volume manufacturing and scalable production.
Identify and implement quality control measures based on data analysis of production issues.
Lead a team of manufacturing engineers while providing mentorship and coaching on technical skills.
Manage the transition from new design introductions to production through process change management.

What we're looking for

Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or granted asylum/refugee status for export control compliance.
Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
5+ years of full product life cycle experience.
Experience with lasers, detectors, modulators, optical fiber, and related devices for testing and characterization.
Experience with optical metrology for component and system test and qualification.
Experience with physical and geometric optics, Gaussian beam propagation, and detection.
PhD in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electronics, or a related discipline (preferred).
Expertise in imaging/non-imaging design using Zemax, automated testing, and precision optical systems (preferred).
