As a Sr Messages Infrastructure Engineer, you will join the Messages team to design and maintain the core on-device architecture and sync infrastructure powering iOS, macOS, watchOS, and visionOS. What you'll do

Design and maintain the on-device architecture for storing, vending, and syncing Messages data across multiple platforms.
Develop robust data structures, APIs, and database schemas to support new features.
Build and optimize sync infrastructure specifically focusing on iCloud and CloudKit integration.
Manage system daemons, attachment storage, and transcoding pipelines.
Create testable code to ensure quality and maintain backwards compatibility over time.
Maintain and replace legacy code with modern solutions in non-disruptive ways.

What we're looking for

Strong object-oriented development and design skills.
At least 6 years of industry experience building mobile applications.
Ability to adapt quickly to new technical environments and resolve sophisticated problems.
Passion for modular, maintainable, and testable code.
At least 2 years of hands-on iOS or macOS application development.
Experience with Swift and/or Objective-C.
Experience with SQLite databases, CloudKit sync frameworks, and system daemons (XPC).
Experience with multi-threaded processing, synchronization, and interprocess communication.
