Senior Manager, Engineering

What you'll do

• Define and drive technical strategy for AI foundations, LLM-powered systems, and agentic workflows.
• Build and lead a high-performing engineering organization of senior engineers and technical leads.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Data Science to translate product goals into scalable technical roadmaps.
• Develop foundational AI capabilities including model integration, user understanding, and evaluation frameworks.
• Drive execution on multi-year roadmaps to create reusable AI capabilities across the Pinterest ecosystem.
• Establish engineering excellence standards for system reliability, security, privacy, and cost efficiency.
• Coach managers and senior individual contributors to expand their scope and leadership impact.
• Align technical investments with company goals by resolving trade-offs with executive leadership.

What we're looking for

• Significant experience leading engineering teams in AI/ML, personalization, platform engineering, or consumer-facing AI systems at scale.
• Proven success as a senior leader managing managers and technical leaders across complex, cross-functional spaces.
• Track record of driving strategy and execution for large-scale organizations involving AI systems, generative AI, or platform capabilities.
• Experience leading teams in areas such as LLM-powered systems, agentic workflows, orchestration, or proactive product experiences.
• Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity and convert early-stage opportunities into clear roadmaps and team structures.
• Strong technical depth in architecture, platform design, and model tradeoffs while maintaining high standards for engineering excellence.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with global scale consumer products or building AI assistants and proactive recommendation systems (preferred).
