Senior Engineer, Price Publish (Price Decision Engine)

What you'll do

• Design and implement scalable application architectures and software engineering patterns for production systems.
• Develop and maintain high-performance distributed backend services using Java, Kotlin, and Apache Kafka.
• Build and support high-volume REST APIs and manage relational or NoSQL databases.
• Lead code reviews, design reviews, testing, and debugging activities at the application level.
• Troubleshoot complex operational issues and lead disaster recovery planning and activities.
• Conduct research and execute proof-of-concept activities for emerging technologies.
• Embed data quality protocols throughout data acquisition, processing, and storage.
• Provide technical oversight and coaching to team members to resolve severe technical issues.

What we're looking for

• 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Strong experience in developing enterprise applications using Java.
• Strong experience with Kotlin or the ability to quickly become productive in Kotlin.
• Strong experience building distributed backend services using Apache Kafka, including producer and consumer implementations.
• Experience designing, developing, and supporting high-volume Rest APIs.
• Strong experience with relational databases such as Oracle and/or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity working with distributed NoSQL databases such as Cassandra.
• Experience with modular mono repo architectures (preferred).
• Experience working in framework-light or framework-free Java applications (preferred).
• Experience with RocksDB (preferred).
• Experience supporting high-throughput, event-driven, or large-scale distributed systems (preferred).
• Retail, pricing, or eCommerce platform experience (preferred).
