Amazon Leo Builder Product Services is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to lead the design and optimization of Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL database environments supporting Siemens Teamcenter PLM and related platform services. This role involves collaborating with various teams to enhance performance, reliability, and scalability while ensuring high availability through clustering, replication, and disaster recovery strategies. Day-to-day tasks include database provisioning, user management, capacity planning, patching, health monitoring, and implementing migration strategies for upgrades and performance optimization. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL administration, including query optimization, indexing, memory management, and backup/recovery procedures. Familiarity with AWS RDS services, CI/CD pipelines, and database monitoring tools is preferred, as the role requires expertise in both platforms to support complex enterprise integrations within a rapidly scaling environment.
Design and optimize database schemas for MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
Implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions for both databases.
Perform daily DBA tasks including provisioning, user management, and health monitoring.
Develop migration strategies for Teamcenter upgrades and performance optimization.
Establish best practices for backup/recovery and replication in both database environments.
What we're looking for
5+ years of database administration and engineering experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
Expert knowledge of MS SQL Server architecture including query optimization, indexing strategies, memory management, table partitioning, Always On Availability Groups, and backup/recovery procedures.
Strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, query planning, indexing strategies, partitioning, WAL configuration, and backup/recovery.
Proven experience with performance tuning and optimization of complex queries and stored procedures/functions across MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
Experience with high-availability and disaster recovery solutions for MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL (streaming replication, logical replication, failover mechanisms).
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
