The Hartford is seeking a Sr AI Machine Learning Engineer to join the Global Specialty Applied AI team. In this role, you will design, build, and operationalize production-grade AI solutions and MLOps services to improve the global specialty underwriting experience. Your daily responsibilities include researching and implementing generative and machine learning algorithms, developing repeatable architectural patterns, and managing the end-to-end model development lifecycle from ideation to post-production monitoring. You will utilize Python, Unix, and Git for object-oriented development while deploying API services and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Terraform, or CloudFormation. The position requires expertise in AWS and GCP clouds, workflow automation platforms like Apache Airflow, and emerging technologies including generative AI, agentic workflows, and embedding LLMs into automated processes to solve complex business problems.

What you'll do

Research, experiment with, and implement suitable Generative and ML algorithms, tools, and technologies.
Design, develop, and maintain production-grade deployment for traditional ML and AI models.
Deliver critical milestones for model deployment within AWS and GCP cloud environments.
Build and deploy API services and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or equivalent tools.
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar technologies.
Adopt and promote MLOps best practices across the Data Science community.
Provide mentorship and thought leadership to junior engineers and present new concepts to technical audiences.
Identify and assess new data sources and analytical techniques to ensure competitive advantage.

What we're looking for

Master’s degree in a related field or 5+ years of equivalent experience in a research or DevOps function.
Development experience developing solutions within AWS, GCP, or both.
Experience building and deploying API services within the Cloud.
Experience building CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or equivalent.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) including CloudFormation, Terraform, or equivalents.
Experience in Unix, git, and strong object-oriented development experience using Python.
Experience in end-to-end model development lifecycle, from ideation through post-production monitoring.
Authorized to work in the U.S. now and in the future.
