The Spring 2027 - IEF - Flight Sciences / SWAPP Collegiate Intern joins the Software and Performance Products team within the Flight Sciences department. This role focuses on software verification and validation activities necessary for the certification and support of Gulfstream aircraft, alongside software-centered development projects. The intern will work with engineers to develop software for complex performance calculations and verify control law software used by customers. Day-to-day responsibilities include model based development, aerospace software certification, software automation and tooling, data analysis for decision-making, and resource planning using MS Project. Candidates should possess skills in Matlab, Simulink, and programming or scripting. The role addresses critical technical challenges in the aerospace industry, specifically involving flight dynamics, control theory, aircraft performance, and flight planning to ensure the reliability of advanced aviation systems.
Perform software verification and validation activities for Gulfstream aircraft certification.
Develop software for complex performance calculations and control law systems.
Execute Model Based Development projects within the Flight Sciences department.
Create software automation and tooling to improve engineering processes.
Support resource planning and allocation using MS Project or similar tools.
Perform data analysis to support project planning and decision-making.
What we're looking for
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in aerospace, software, systems engineering, or a related field.
Completion of sophomore year is required prior to the internship start date.
Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher without rounding.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Familiarity with Matlab (preferred).
Familiarity with Simulink (preferred).
Experience with programming and/or scripting (preferred).
Relevant coursework in Control Theory, Flight Dynamics, Flight Controls, Aircraft Performance, or Flight Planning (preferred).
