JOB TITLE: Specialist, Software Engineer – IBM ACE & ETL
The Specialist, Software Engineer – IBM ACE & ETL joins the Technology team to modernize and strengthen integrations powering Commercial Lines. This role involves designing, building, testing, and supporting enterprise integration solutions that move policy transaction data securely between internal applications, vendors, and regulatory consumers. You will work at the intersection of real-time messaging, API orchestration, and batch processing. Key responsibilities include developing message flows, implementing secure API integrations, and building ETL mappings. You will utilize a technical stack including IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE), IBM MQ, Informatica ETL, REST, SOAP, Oracle, and Apigee. Proficiency in ESQL, Java, XML, and JSON is required to manage data transformations, troubleshoot production incidents, and ensure reliable data movement across the enterprise integration layer.
Design, build, and support IBM ACE integration flows to connect applications, databases, and external partners.
Develop Informatica ETL mappings and workflows to extract, transform, and load data across operational and analytical systems.
Implement secure API integrations using REST, SOAP, and OAuth 2.0 authentication via platforms like Apigee.
Configure and troubleshoot IBM MQ nodes, including transactionality, message ordering, and delivery behavior.
Develop ESQL logic and call Java methods to handle complex message parsing, routing, and data transformations.
Manage data movement across XML, JSON, and database records while ensuring data quality and traceability.
Monitor ETL sessions and production incidents to perform root-cause analysis and manage operational reruns.
Maintain and support microservices and API-led integrations aligned with enterprise standards.
What we're looking for
Completion of an undergraduate degree in computer science, management information systems, or a related field is required, though technology experience or certificates may be substituted.
Four or more years of software engineering, application integration, middleware, or related technology experience is required.
Hands-on experience with IBM App Connect Enterprise, IBM Integration Bus, Informatica, or comparable enterprise integration and ETL platforms is required.
Practical experience developing and troubleshooting message flows, ESQL, MQ integrations, REST APIs, SOAP services, and Informatica mappings is required.
Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or JavaScript is required.
Experience with OAuth 2.0, microservices, and API management platforms such as Apigee is required.
Experience with XML, JSON, SQL, Oracle, and ODBC database connectivity technologies is required.
Commercial Lines insurance, PolicyCenter, or IBM ACE/MQ administration experience is preferred.
