As a Software Security Engineer, you will join a mission-focused team to enhance and maintain the security posture of software applications. You will assess and analyze software for vulnerabilities to determine if risks are acceptable for use in the DoD arena. Your daily responsibilities include working with developers and information assurance engineers to ensure security is built-in through the software development lifecycle. You will examine applications from an adversarial perspective to qualify risks and deliver assignments under general supervision. Required skills include experience with Java, JavaScript, C, C++, or Python, along with knowledge of NIST, RMF, or DoD requirements. You should possess a Secret clearance and a DoD 8140 or 8570 compliant certification. Preferred experience includes Static Code Analysis tools, VMware, and Linux or Windows systems.

What you'll do

Assess and analyze software for vulnerabilities to determine if risks are acceptable for DoD use.
Integrate security practices throughout the software development lifecycle to ensure security is built-in.
Examine software applications from an adversarial perspective to qualify and mitigate risks.
Perform code reviews with and without static analysis tools to identify security vulnerabilities.
Work with developers and information assurance engineers to ensure adequate verification and validation.
Plan, conduct, and deliver software security assignments under general supervision.
Report on testing results and recommend appropriate countermeasures to improve security posture.

What we're looking for

Experience with Java, JavaScript, C, C++, or Python.
Experience with Information Assurance or cybersecurity requirements.
Knowledge of NIST, RMF, or DoD requirements.
Knowledge of software development or programming.
HS diploma or GED.
DoD 8140 Compliant Intermediate or DoD 8570 Compliant IAT level II Certification such as Security+ or CISSP.
Bachelor's degree in CS, Information Science, or a related field (preferred).
Secret clearance.
