JOB TITLE: Software Engineering Technical Leader (Identity Engineering - SSO) As a Software Engineering Technical Leader within the Identity Engineering organization, you will join the squad responsible for core SSO and identity-brokering capabilities. In this hands-on individual-contributor role, you will set the technical direction for the authentication and federation foundation of a unified identity platform. You will design and develop secure, scalable SSO services, identity-broker capabilities, and APIs using Python, while establishing durable patterns for identity orchestration across heterogeneous systems. Key responsibilities include turning ambiguous needs into clear specifications, documenting architecture decisions, and mentoring engineers on distributed systems. You will utilize Python, AWS, SQL, Redis, and AI-assisted development tools to solve complex distributed-systems challenges. Required expertise includes SAML, OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0, SCIM, and building backend services for enterprise cloud environments.

What you'll do

Own the architecture and technical direction for core SSO and identity-broker capabilities.
Lead the design and development of secure, scalable SSO services and APIs using Python.
Establish durable patterns for authentication, federation, and identity orchestration across heterogeneous systems.
Convert ambiguous business needs into clear technical specifications, architectural designs, and executable plans.
Document consequential technical decisions through Architecture Decision Records to ensure alignment with intended architecture.
Establish and apply best practices for using AI-assisted development tools throughout the software lifecycle.
Serve as a technical bridge to communicate tradeoffs and build alignment among engineering and product teams.
Raise engineering standards through design reviews, code reviews, and technical mentorship of other engineers.

What we're looking for

Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related experience, master’s degree with 6+ years, or PhD with 3+ years.
Experience providing technical leadership for the design and delivery of distributed systems, microservices, or enterprise cloud services.
Professional experience building backend services and APIs using Python, including asynchronous programming patterns.
Experience designing or building identity, authentication, authorization, or security capabilities.
Experience using AI-assisted development tools to deliver software while maintaining standards for security, correctness, and maintainability.
Experience leading complex software initiatives across multiple engineering or product teams (preferred).
Deep knowledge of identity and federation protocols such as SAML, OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0, SCIM, or WS-Federation (preferred).
Experience with AWS, SQL, Redis, event-driven architectures, React, or TypeScript (preferred).
