As a Software Engineering Technical Leader within the Common Hardware Group, you will join a team developing innovative hardware platforms for core switching, routing, and wireless products. You will architect, design, and develop BIOS, BSP, and diagnostics for core and edge routing products while designing and testing kernel and user space device drivers for FPGA and networking peripherals. Your daily work involves leading technical reviews, executing software test plans, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to debug prototypes and validate systems. The role requires proficiency in C, C++, and Python, along with experience in Linux hardware bring-up, multi-threading, and protocols like I2C, MDIO, SPI, UART, PCIe, and GPIO. You will utilize tools such as GDB and KGDB to troubleshoot defects across kernel modules and applications for high-bandwidth systems involving networking and optical technologies.
Architect, design, and develop BIOS, BSP, and Diagnostics for Cisco core and edge routing products.
Design, develop, and test kernel and user space device drivers for FPGA and networking peripherals.
Lead board bring-up, validation, and debugging of embedded systems.
Develop software from initial concept through final delivery for large-scale, high-bandwidth systems.
Troubleshoot software defects ranging from kernel modules to end-user applications.
Execute software test plans and lead technical reviews across cross-functional teams.
Write system specifications and participate in requirements reviews for hardware platforms.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 12+ years experience, or Master's degree with 10+ years experience.
Proficiency in C, C++, and Python programming.
Experience with Sonic, ONIE, BMC, IPMI, and Redfish technologies.
Extensive Linux hardware bring-up experience and a strong background in device driver development.
Expertise in multi-threading, event handling, state machines, and kernel debugging tools like GDB and KGDB.
Skilled in developing device drivers for protocols including I2C, MDIO, SPI, UART, PCIe, and GPIO.
Experience leading board bring-up, validation, and debugging of embedded systems.
Ability to develop software from concept through delivery for large-scale, high-bandwidth systems.
