Software Engineering IV

What you'll do

• Lead investigations into complex distributed systems to trace the root causes of faults.
• Identify system bottlenecks or load concentrations and develop automated algorithms to distribute load effectively.
• Create reliable, scalable, and efficient solutions for observed performance issues and hardware degradations.
• Implement new system capabilities using methods that allow for incremental and safe deployment.
• Serve as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) by mentoring engineers and managing on-call rotations.
• Monitor systems for degradation or downtime while providing high-level support for complex technical problems.
• Develop algorithms and heuristics to ensure system stability despite hardware failures or recurring events.
• Proactively research and implement new technologies to improve the availability, reliability, and observability of products.

What we're looking for

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is required.
• Candidates must have at least 4 years of technical engineering experience coding in C, C++, C#, or Java.
• Master's degrees or additional years of experience are preferred for advanced candidates.
• Ability to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check and other government security screenings is required.
• Experience with distributed systems, high availability, and consistent performance is required.
• Proficiency in debugging at both source code and assembly levels is required.
• Ability to identify bottlenecks, develop scalable algorithms, and manage concurrency in a distributed system is required.
• Capability to mentor other engineers and act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) for on-call support is required.
