Software Engineer, Money Movement

What you'll do

• Own stablecoin-based money movement features from initial system design through production deployment as the Directly Responsible Individual.
• Build backend systems and APIs that enable partners to embed stablecoin-powered payments into their products.
• Develop infrastructure for stablecoin-based pay-ins, payouts, deposits, and withdrawals across the Coinbase ecosystem.
• Translate product requirements into scalable technical solutions while balancing speed, security, and regulatory needs.
• Execute performance, scalability, and reliability improvements across distributed systems to resolve bottlenecks.
• Conduct code reviews and establish architectural best practices to improve overall engineering quality.
• Write technical design documents to communicate architecture trade-offs to product and engineering stakeholders.

What we're looking for

• At least 2 years of software engineering experience building and operating backend systems, preferably in fintech, payments, or crypto.
• Proficiency in backend languages such as Go or Java.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure like AWS or GCP.
• Hands-on experience designing distributed systems and APIs.
• Track record of serving as a Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for technical projects from design through production deployment.
• Experience building on or integrating with blockchain technologies, including stablecoins, on-chain payments, or smart contract platforms.
• Ability to write technical design documents and communicate architecture trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Ability to use generative AI responsibly to improve workflow efficiency and quality.
