What you'll do

Design, develop, and test software features for Azure database services like SQL, PostgreSQL, and Cosmos DB.
Build components to improve database performance, scalability, reliability, security, and developer productivity.
Solve complex engineering challenges involving large-scale distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
Write high-quality, maintainable code while participating in code reviews, debugging, testing, and deployment activities.
Analyze system telemetry and performance data to identify optimization opportunities and improve customer experiences.
Develop automation, tooling, and observability solutions to help teams operate services efficiently.
Deliver new capabilities that support modern data and AI applications.

What we're looking for

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with at least one semester remaining after the internship.
Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with at least one semester remaining after the internship.
Experience programming in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python through coursework, projects, internships, research, or open-source contributions.
Understanding of core computer science concepts including data structures, algorithms, operating systems, networking, and distributed systems.
Exposure to database systems including SQL, data modeling, indexing, transactions, query processing, or distributed data.
Experience building, debugging, or testing software through academic, personal, research, internship, or open-source projects.
Exposure to AI/ML concepts such as generative AI, embeddings, vector search, retrieval, or AI agents.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate technical ideas clearly.
