Software Engineer – Backend Platforms, Assistant Vice President (Wealth Custody & Clearing) joins the Wealth Custody & Clearing technology organization to design, develop, and support modern software capabilities. This role involves building resilient, scalable, and secure production-grade solutions for advisor, brokerage, custody, clearing, trading, onboarding, and servicing workflows. You will develop cloud-enabled, API-first solutions and backend services while ensuring performance, observability, and data integrity. Key technologies include Java, Kotlin, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, RESTful APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures. You will also utilize CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and relational or NoSQL databases. The work focuses on creating a highly integrated platform for RIAs and wealth management firms within a highly regulated, transaction-oriented environment, requiring strong engineering execution across core platform services and third-party integrations.
Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise-grade software solutions for the Wealth Custody & Clearing platform.
Build scalable backend services, APIs, and integrations to support custody, clearing, and trading workflows.
Develop cloud-enabled, API-first solutions using secure coding standards and modern software design principles.
Translate business requirements into high-quality technical solutions in partnership with Product, Architecture, and Risk teams.
Support integration initiatives with external fintech, custody, clearing, and market infrastructure providers.
Ensure all software meets strict requirements for performance, resiliency, security, observability, and data integrity.
Troubleshoot complex technical issues and perform root cause analysis to support continuous platform improvement.
Participate in Agile delivery processes including sprint planning, estimation, testing, and production support.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
7+ years of software engineering, backend engineering, or application development experience with progressively increasing responsibility.
Hands-on experience with modern programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar technologies.
Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and enterprise integration patterns.
Experience with cloud-enabled development, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, automated testing, and modern software delivery tooling.
Experience with relational databases, NoSQL databases, messaging platforms, observability tools, monitoring, logging, and performance optimization (preferred).
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, or containerized application deployment (preferred).
Financial services experience, including wealth management, brokerage, custody, clearing, trading, fintech, advisor platforms, or transaction processing (preferred).
