JOB TITLE: Software Development Manager, Software Defined Network Control Plane The Software Development Manager, Software Defined Network Control Plane joins the SDN Control Plane team to manage the brain driving the Amazon Leo low Earth orbit satellite network. This role involves owning agent and device network health while driving operational improvements to achieve 99.99+ network availability. You will implement highly-available software to drive networking control plane operations on physical and remote nodes, while defining and automating processes for software development, implementation, testing, and maintenance. The position requires managing network software nodes written in C and Rust. You will work on a high throughput telecom service involving satellites, customer terminals, gateways, cloud services, and terrestrial network infrastructure. Key technical skills include experience with Java, C#, or C++, service-oriented architecture, and distributed programming.

What you'll do

Own the health and performance of all Agent and device network components.
Drive operational improvements to maintain 99.99+ network availability.
Implement highly-available software to drive networking control plane operations on physical and remote nodes.
Define and automate processes for software development, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
Manage network software nodes written in C and Rust.
Design, build, and operate a massive satellite constellation and terrestrial network.
Interact with ground control, customer engagement, and monitoring services to fine-tune network performance.

What we're looking for

Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum.
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
3+ years of engineering team management experience.
7+ years of engineering experience.
8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
5+ years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupational experience.
1+ years of experience in technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates.
