The SoC HW (Digital, Analog or PnP) Validation Engineer joins the Compute Silicon & Manufacturing Engineering team to support post-silicon validation for custom silicon designs. This technical individual contributor role focuses on functional, electrical, and power/performance validation of complex SoC architectures. You will own specific validation areas, develop test plans, create scripts and tools, and implement methodologies for debug boards and hardware requirements. The role involves triaging failures, providing technical mentorship, and collaborating with architects and logic designers to improve design quality. Key skills include proficiency in Python or C/C++, experience with JTAG, protocol analyzers, and oscilloscopes, and an understanding of computer architecture including cache coherency, PCIe, and memory controllers. You will solve critical challenges in ensuring high-performance, efficient silicon for cloud infrastructure by managing the transition from pre-silicon verification to production-ready hardware.
Own post-silicon validation for functional, electrical, or power and performance domains.
Define and implement silicon debug tools, capabilities, and methodologies.
Develop validation strategies, test plans, and automation scripts using Python or C/C++.
Execute post-silicon content to triage and debug hardware failures.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers in specialized areas of expertise.
Collaborate with partners to improve design, validation plans, and overall methodology.
Contribute to pre-silicon verification plans, tests, and debugging for assigned SoC components.
What we're looking for
A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of technical engineering experience.
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of technical engineering experience.
Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check and meet export control regulations for access to protected information.
Proof of citizenship, U.S. residency, or other protected status is required for export control eligibility.
Applied understanding of Computer Architecture and CPU/SoC validation principles (preferred).
Proficiency in writing scripts or software using industry standard languages like Python or C/C++ (preferred).
Experience in verification, logic development, or validation tools for CPU, SoC, and IP development teams (preferred).
Demonstrated expertise in functional, power/performance, automation, or hardware/software debug efforts (preferred).
